ARTICHOKE

Colorado Red Star - A purple tinged variety developed to produce in one season rather than needing two years like others. Can produce 6-10 artichokes. Not cold hardy here but can be grown year after year but either digging up & storing roots overwinter, or keeping potted plant in unheated garage or basement until spring. 1'-3' tall & wide. Does well in containers. 

RHUBARB *leaves are poisonous-only eat stem*

Victoria - Green tinged with red. Sweet, tender stems considered the best variety for cooking. Wait 1-2 years to harvest for best production. 2'-4' tall & wide. Full sun to part shade. Perennial that will grow for many years.

Glass Gem - Absolutely stunning array of colors! Grow 9' tall. Plant 1' apart in a block pattern. Keep 500' away from other corn varieties to prevent current season cross pollination. If growing only 6, using manual pollination will help with corn development-Sprinkle pollen from tassels at top of corn onto cornsilk on newly forming ears.

GROUND CHERRY

New Hanover - Sweet, tangy, tropical, pineapple/mango flavor. This variety has a sweeter flavor than others. Cherry size fruits grow in a papery husk. Ripe when husk dries out, falls of plant & fruit is a dark gold. Unripe fruit is tart & can cause stomach upset. If fruit falls off early, leave on counter to continue ripening. 1'-3' tall & wide. Does well in containers.

LUFFA

Yes, the Luffa used in your bathtub comes from a plant! Long vines need a trellis or fence to climb. Beautiful yellow flowers that bees love. Attracts pests away from your other plants but they won't hurt this one. Very young luffa can be eaten like a zucchini. To harvest for sponges, allow fruit to dry on the vine. Once the shell is hardened, it can be cracked & removed to reveal the luffa underneath!
